The Call of Duty franchise has been under a lot of scrutiny lately, and for good reasons; repetitive, unoriginal, recycled maps and animations. Ghosts was an absolute disaster and a lot of people lost faith after that. Advanced Warfare was the first game to take a small step in the right direction, but it wasn’t quite enough — Black Ops III on the other-hand, oh boy. Let me be the first to welcome the king of shooters back!

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is the definite franchise game of this generation. It is everything you want in a Call of Duty game; action packed campaign and a fast, fresh, and frantic multiplayer mode that is highly addictive… and-then-some. Not only is Black Ops III the most feature packed Call of Duty installment to launch in ages, it puts games like Halo 5, Evolve and Battlefront to shame when you compare just how much bang you get for your back. It is a solid 3 in 1 pack. Each game mode is well worth the price of one game.

Treyarch have done a stellar job truly evolving the franchise in a new and exciting way. Although a lot of game-play elements seem borrowed from games like Halo and Titanfall, the way they are implemented into Black Ops III just makes perfect sense. The supernatural and cybernetic somehow go together like carrots and green peas making this year’s Call of Duty not just juicy but tasty as hell.

Zombies are back in this year Call of Duty, but instead of being a tacked-on, rushed, gimmick, Blacks Ops III Zombies is a full-fledged game-play mode that is just as well though-out as the multiplayer mode and campaign and a lot of people are actually calling it the best shooting experience of the year… and I am sure the Jeff Goldblum’s cameo had something to do with that.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III feels good. They way it plays is a dream. The controls are so finely tuned to perfection, but without well thought-out and crafted maps it really wouldn’t matter. All maps, both multiplayer and campaign, are designed masterfully. There are plenty of different paths you can take in each map. You will be wall-running, sliding, vaulting and double jumping like a pro and feeling like a natural free-runner while playing Black Ops III.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is frickin’ amazing game. It is the greatest Call of Duty game since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and, so far, is the best shooter of the year. It should sent the benchmark all upcoming shooters in terms of content and quality. 343, please take some notes, Treyarch just proved that couch co-op, aka split-screen, is not a thing of the past; every game-mode in Black Ops 3, even online multiplayer, can be played with three of your friends in the same room!
