Assassin’s Creed is back, and this time we get to parkour around the city of London during the industrial revolution — and, oh boy — it a hell of a lot of fun!

You read that correctly. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is fun! And for the first time in the history of the series side quests don’t feel like a chore. There is plenty to do in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, so much, in fact, that you will easily get side tracked while roaming on the rooftops of the city of London.  Starting gang-wars, kidnapping people, hijacking bootlegged alcohol, it is all so fun and amazing to a point where the story missions start to seem dull in comparison.

Speaking of the Assassin’s Creed Syndicate story, Ubisoft do a stellar job, as usual, with writing and casting. Like most other Assassin’s Creed games the story is capable of standing alone as a film (I’m guessing this is why there actually is a film in production) but at this point it is becoming a little clichéd with this whole rinse and repeat thing. Ubisoft should have gone all out with the story and really blown are minds.  Though the story isn’t bad… it is just not… great.

I also believe Assassin’s Creed took a giant step back by completely removing multiplayer from this year Assassin’s Creed formula. Despite the short-comings of Unity, I commended Ubisoft for trying do something fresh with the series last year and was really hoping they’d work on perfecting the multiplayer element, but it seems as though they’ve completely abandoned that ship. Assassin’s Creed Unity seems perfect for multiplayer since there are two protagonists. Such a damn shame!+

As far as cons go, that’s about it. Everything else Assassin’s Creed Syndicate does, it does it so right.  Syndicate is by far the most enjoyable games of the series and definitely the most immersive. The small tweaks to game-play, and the second take on the whole assassination part of the game feel fresh and needed.  It’s a masterful game, it really is.  Faith in Ubisoft restored!

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is everything that fan want from the series. It’s not repetitive. The city of London truly feels alive, and experiencing the industrial era in all it’s glory in amazing high definition graphics is an absolute joy.  Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is a top contender for Game of the Year, and now I am excited to see what the series will take us next.
