The site allows users to acess the same tools that Shinkawa uses for his iconic illustrations. This means that fans have access to a complete set of digital pens, pencils and brushes, as well as rulers, masking tape, and various inks. You log in to the Metal Gear art studio via your facebook or twitter accounts, and draw in real time. This means that you can see new submissions as they are being created, and there's also an option to replay completed artworks to see how they were created. Users can message each other, and vote for or "like" their favorite artwork, and every three weeks Shinkawa himself will select the best submissions and award exclusive prizes. In addition to Shinkawa submitting artwork, there will be other guest artists that showcase their take on Metal Gear art.

The first competition for the week of february 18^th - 24^th is for the best Raiden image, in honor of the release of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. After that the competition schedule is as follows:

25^th Feb – 17^th March: Mechs and Vehicles

18^th March - 7^th April: Snake

8^th April – 28^th April: Female Characters

29^th April – 12^th May: Male Characters
