Black Ops 2 Is Not A Dating Service Featured

Written by

I may be a girl, but I am still a gamer, and a damn good one at that, I might add. Whenever I decide to go play some competitive online shooter, like Black Ops 2, I find myself caught in the middle of some awkward online dating dilemma.

This doesn't necessarily apply to all guy gamers, and it seems to happen mostly when I play Black Ops 2. If I am not being insulted by some twelve year old kid asking me to nip his tip then I am receiving countless messages on on PSN stating the following: "Hi hun... what's your number", "Got cam?", and even people asking if I want to hook up with them in PlayStation Home.

Usually I'd be flattered but not in this instance. These guys don't know me, and I've never advertised myself as being available or looking. I am playing Black Ops 2 for the same reason as they are; to relax and have some fun. The strange thing is that this usually only happens when I am doing well and am on top of the ladder.. which is most of the time.

Perhaps it's being beat by a girl that brings these guys to their desperate and vulgar states, especially when a girl beats a guy in something that is commonly referred to as a "guy's game". What makes Black Ops 2, or any other shooter, a guy's game? Is it the fact that it's about war and guns? I seriously doubt the majority of the people who play Black Ops 2 know anything about war or guns. People are just taking the game far too seriously, and I think exactly that is the crux of my dilemma.

We are all human and we can get frustrated if things don't go our way. Heck, I'm not exactly the saint of gamers. I will curse and rant and, honestly, have almost hurled my controller at the television set few times, but I never stoop so low as to personally insult the people who just so happened to play better than me, regardless of if they were cheap and camping in the corners with target finders. It's just pathetic and gives a bad name to most guy gamers.

I don't think the problem is guy gamers. I think the problem Black Ops 2 and its target audience. With over a million people playing Call of Duty you are bound to find some assholes. And, with irresponsible parenting to blame, a lot of these assholes are simply foul mouthed kids that are not even old enough to be playing the game.

My name is Erin. I am a girl gamer, and I am proud of it... but seriously, cut the crap; instead of trash talking and trying to pick up girls in-game, put your money where your mouthes are and impress me with your skill. Then maybe, just maybe, your worthy of being added to my friendslist. My PSN is ErinaWins, I hope to see you in game.
